Heneveld was extremely knowledgeable, professional and he responded quickly to all of my emails and phone calls. He was able to explain the legal process to me in terms I could understand and... no matter how out of line the opposing counsel was with him, he never lost his cool.

Our Process

I try to keep things a simple as possible. Typically, I use the following process – but if some other way works better for you, then we can go that route. I am here to serve you and whatever works for you will work for me.

Preliminary meeting with you: the purpose of the meeting is to:

  1. Get to know you;

  2. Learn about your dreams, desires, and needs;

  3. Educate you on the estate planning options;

  4. Agree on a course of action and timeline;

  5. Agree on the fee and you will pay the fee; and

  6. Walk through our Estate Planning Questionnaire.

This first meeting typically takes about 2 to 3 hours.

During the first meeting, we will walk through our Estate Planning Questionnaire listing the information and documents I will need. We will complete as much of it as possible. You will need to provide additional information that is not immediately available and get me copies of the necessary documents. It will likely take several hours to complete the questionnaire and gather all the documents. You will then forward the completed questionnaire and documents to me within a week to 10 days of our meeting.

I will draft your estate planning documents within 5 working days of receiving your completed questionnaire and documents. I will then email you the draft documents for your review.

You will then review the documents and advise me of any questions, concerns, or changes you would like. You should do this within 5 working days of receiving the documents from me.

 I will make all requested changes – and then email the revised documents to you for your review. You will then go through Step 4 above. We will continue Steps 3, 4, and 5 until we have the documents as you want them (however, the time between steps will likely be a day rather than 5 days).

We will meet to sign and have all documents notarized.

At the document signing, I will provide you a list of assets that should be put into your living trust (which are not addressed in the document signing session) with directions on how to do that.

One month after the Document Signing, I will follow up with you to find out how your funding of the Living Trust is going. It is so important that you fund the trust. Because if you don’t fund the trust, your beneficiaries will be disappointed.

About Attorney L. Allen Heneveld

Attorney at Law
JD, MBA, C-Suite Executive & Former CPA

A Unique Attorney

I like to think of myself as a unique attorney that offers much more than most attorneys to help you get the outcomes you want. Why is this? Because of my:

Unique Commitment: I am committed to providing you:

  • Outstanding service – I will be interested in you, personable, informing, understanding, available and timely – and I avoid legalese!

  • Excellent work product – I give you what you need (nothing less and nothing more). I won’t recommend services you don’t need (in order to increase my fees).

  • Reasonable fees – well below the big law firms (which I once worked for).

  • Unique Training: very few attorneys have this broad training.

  • Attorney/JD (Juris Doctor) – George Washington University, National Law Center.

  • CPA (Certified Public Account) – in Illinois (but I am not longer a CPA).

  • MBA (Masters in Business Administration) – Duke University.

  • Unique Experience: over 30 years of helping people succeed

  • Executive – CEO, COO, CFO, and In-house Counsel for several companies.

  • Coach – life coach for people who need help moving to the next level.

Personal

I am a very blessed man. Why?

The Most Important Relationship. First and foremost because I have a deep relationship with the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. My desire is that all of my life would flow out of that relationship – just like Jesus.

Family. I have a wonderful wife and four great children. I am very proud of them. All our children were born in Laguna Beach, California. But, they spent most of their lives living in Fort Collins, Colorado. We moved to Grand Rapids in July 2014. I was raised here in the Grand Rapids area.

Ministry. I enjoy a greater purpose than just living for myself. That greater purpose is “revealing the GOD that lives in me”. As a result, my whole life is ministry – ministry to my family, friends, church members, clients, other attorneys, and all that come along my path. Life is not about me – it is about HIM and loving others.

When I was in law school, I was the CFO and a pastor-in-training with a large inner-city church. I was also the lead elder/co-pastor for our former church in Laguna Beach, California – where I used to preach once a month.

I have written a workbook entitled “HIS Victorious Life!” that helps believers enjoy more of the Abundant Life (which is the very life of God) in the here and now (no need to wait until you die). I am also a Spiritual Life coach – helping believers enter into more of HIS life for them. If you are interested, please let me know.

Fun. I was a passionate athlete in high school (Forest Hills Central) and college (Hope College). I also enjoy fishing, hunting, and golfing. Here’s a picture of my prized elk taken in New Mexico.

“I am out for your success.”
